Ancient Acropolis of Sami

Perched on Lapitha Mountain, the remnants of the Ancient Acropolis of Sami overlook Sami’s harbor town. Several picturesque trails lead to the Acropolis and connect it to a lot of Roman ruins in the surrounding area.

Ancient Sami was a strong walled town that existed from the Paleolithic period as an autonomous and sovereign state with its own coin. A robust and highly inhabited town with strong defenses that thrived due to commerce development and population growth.

The fortress is located on the hills of Palaiokastro and Agioi Fanentes offering spectacular views of scenic landscapes.
