Lixouri: Environmental Action for World Environment and Oceans Day 🌳🌊

In order to celebrate the World Environment Day (June 5th) and World Oceans Day (June 8th), the Municipality of Lixouri, in collaboration with Kefalonia Fisheries and the environmental organization iaSEAs, is organizing a significant event dedicated to the protection of our natural wealth and the hands-on environmental awareness of our students.

📍The action will include:

• Voluntary coastal cleanup at the nearby beach of Lixouri Port
• Underwater cleanup of the port by volunteer divers
• Student awareness and education on the protection of the marine environment and the importance of responsible behavior towards nature

Through these activities, students will have the opportunity to:

• Learn about the marine ecosystem and the need to protect it
• Understand the importance of recycling as a way of life
• Realize that responsible behavior towards the environment is not only a duty, but also a right of every active citizen
• Discover that even the smallest action—like participating in a volunteer event or having a conversation with classmates—can be the seed of meaningful change for the future of their community

Education is the foundation of every real social change. With deep respect for the vital work educators do every day, we hope this initiative will serve as an extension of the educational process—a bridge between knowledge and action.
