Faraklata village

Faraklata is a small traditional village built on a hillside above the east coast of the gulf of Argostoli, just 5 km from the city. You will meet it on the road from Argostoli to Sami. The bell tower of the church can be seen from afar as it is 42 meters high, the tallest bell tower on the island!

The walk in this village will fill you with beautiful images and smells, with the traditional houses with courtyards full of flowers. There is also a dilapidated mill that still stands, used in the past to grind wheat.

The Romanian national poet, Panait Istrati (1884-1935), was the son of an immigrant who came from Faraklata. His real name was Gerasimos Valsamis.
