Opposite of Argostoli, the beautiful capital of Kefalonia, explore another aspect of the island, the town of Lixouri. Different from Argostoli in many features, Lixouri is equally beautiful and charming, but much more peaceful and relaxing.
Separated from Argostoli by a narrow gulf, Lixouri has a different atmosphere and lifestyle with lots of restaurants and bars.
Ideally safe for families with young children, Lixouri’s central square, Petritsi square, is a meeting point for both locals and visitors. For swimming near Lixouri, you’ll definitely find Xi beach unique. Xi beach offers a natural spa experience, as it’s surrounded by red cliffs of clay. Kids can also enjoy their swim in safety as the waters are very shallow. Similar to Xi Beach, but less crowded, is Mega Lakkos beach just a few minutes away.
Another acclaimed beach near Lixouri is Petani beach, bright blue waters and white pebbles create a stunning landscape that competes with Myrtos in beauty.
For those seeking romantic spots, visit Kipouria Monastery and savor breathtaking views of the sunset or head to the extremely beautiful, but lesser-known, Platia Ammos beach that lies underneath.
